Before the dust has completely settled on the 2024/25 season, here are some stats to share from this outstanding season.  Here goes….

Team

  • Lymm finished 3rd in National 2 North, our highest ever position in the RFU’s league pyramid.
  • This puts Lymm in the top 50 clubs in the country and the 5th highest ranked in the North West.
  • The league points tally of 98 is Lymm’s highest ever, edging out the 96 earned in our 2022/23 promotion season – albeit that was from only 22 matches.
  • The 22 try bonus points won is the equal highest in our league, alongside champions Leeds Tykes.
  • A try bonus point was won in all 13 home matches played at Crouchley Lane.
  • A total of 915 points were scored, an average of over 35 per match. This was the second highest in a league season being surpassed only by the 1,089 registered in 2022/23.
  • In total, 135 tries were scored (an average of 5.2 tries per match) by 26 different players – again only surpassed by the 2022/23 season, when 160 were scored.
  • The season’s try split was 49 for the forwards and 86 for the backs.

Players

  • In total, 45 players pulled on a Lymm First XV shirt.
  • Of these, 16 were making their Lymm debut.
  • The age split of these 45, based on age at the start of the season, was:
    • 20 or younger – 13 (29%)
    • 21-25 – 16 (35%)
    • 26-30 – 10 (22%)
    • 31 or older – 6 (13%)
  • 57% of appearances were made by players who were products of Lymm Mini, Junior & Colts rugby.

Individuals

Individual appearance and points scoring records, both season and career, are in the table below. It is worth pulling out a few things:

  • The only “ever present” squad members this season were Cal Morris and James Pitcher who both played in all 26 matches.
  • With 24 tries, Nathan Beesley was equal second highest try scorer in the league, falling just one try behind Christian Hooper of Sheffield – shame he missed 4 matches!
  • With 17 and 16 tries respectively, Paddy Jennings and Sam Wadsworth were both in the top 10 try scorers in the league.
  • Our “hooking double act” of Rob Makin and James Pitcher together claimed 15 tries.
