President’s Welcome

Dear Members, Guests, Sponsors and Friends of Lymm Rugby Club,

This weekend we enter round 7 of the 2025/26 season and with 6 games played we are in 7th place, with 15 points from 3 wins. Some of our longest journeys of the season are now behind us but we still have quite some travelling to undertake. By the end of 2025 we will have completed 2,888 miles on return trips to 8 away fixtures. This represents 66% of the total travelling distance (4,394 miles) that we must undertake this season.

My continued thanks on behalf of Lymm RFC to all our players, coaches, and their families for their commitment to Lymm Rugby Club as we manage these unprecedented and unexpected long journeys.

Last weekend we played Hinckley RFC, one of our closest away trips this year and one of only 3 teams in the West league that we have played previously, the others being Chester and Syston, who we play this weekend.

We previously played Hinckley RFC the 2013/14 season in National League 3 Midlands. This was again after a level transfer within the league structures that were in place at the time. On that occasion we moved from the National League 3 North to League 3 Midlands. During that season Hinckley took the honours, both home and away.

During that 2013/14 season I had the privilege of being our Club Chairman and several of our playing and coaching personnel were present in that team, including; our current DoR Adam Fletcher, Defence Coach Tom Bray and James Yates and Oli Higginson both of whom are still playing for our first team.

Against Hinckley last Saturday, the Lymm squad showed 6 changes from the previous week, a balance of returnees in Joe Higgins, James Yates, Ben Thompson and Ste Pilkington and debutants in Dan McQuade and Joe Heaton – the latter two bringing to 11 the total number of debutants Lymm have already fielded this season. There was plenty of pre-match drama as the Lymm team bus, on being asked to re-park by Hinckley officials, broke down in the entrance to the ground, preventing any vehicles from entering or leaving.  If ever there was a portent for what was to follow…this was probably it!

A full match report by Andy Leach can be read on the club website via the following link;

Hinckley 39 – 22 Lymm

Last weekend Lymm 2’s had no game and Lymm 3’s lost 28 – 14 to Winnington Park 2’s.

Welcome to Syston RFC – This weekend we welcome Syston RFC to Beechwood for our first ever encounter at this level. Syston were promoted to National League 2 West last season but have yet to secure a win at this level. However, they did score 40 points against Camborne last Saturday, with 28 of those points coming in the last 13 minutes in the form of 4 converted tries!  Syston also only lost 20 – 7 at Chester.  They will be no pushovers, so we can expect a tough game, but hopefully we will prevail with a confident display and a bonus point win. I look forward to welcoming their President Andy Ward and all their members who attend the game on Saturday, I do hope you enjoy your time at Beechwood.

This weekend, Lymm 2’s are away at Manchester 2’s and Lymm 3’s have no game. Good Luck to all our sides.
