Lymm 2nds 58 – 38 Stockport 2nds
2nd Team Match Report | Saturday November 1 2025
Cormac Nolan back at his best, as Lymm Secure a Convincing Win
Lymm 1st XV had no game on Saturday, as the National 2 West league programme was on a break week off. However, Lymm 2nds were drawn at home against Stockport 2nds in the Primo Drinks Cup 1st Round. Lymm had lost narrowly 33 – 36 to Stockport in the NOWIRUL Premiership league a few weeks earlier, so this promised to be a close game.
At half-time, Lymm were leading 36-17, from 5 tries, 4 conversions and a penalty. Stockport always looked dangerous and Lymm could not relax their guard. In the 2nd half they kept their cool and although the visitors scored a further 21 points, Lymm matched them with 22 points, from 3 tries, 2 conversions and a penalty, to make the final score 58 – 38.
Captain, Matt Hill, was very pleased with the performance, especially having two current Colts in the squad but reserved his praise and comments for his Man of the Match, Cormac Nolan. A highly respected 1st XV player, until injury sidelined him for almost two seasons. Matt commented.
“After returning from a long injury, it’s obvious that Cormac is back to his usual, elusive self. He played at No 10 and led the team with some well worked tries.
“His experience was evident throughout the game, especially towards the end of the match, kicking the extras to keep Stockport well out of reach.
“Competition for a first team slot is very high right now but yesterday’s performance shows no signs of Cormac slowing down”.
Lymm have now been drawn away in the 2nd Round against Fylde Hawks on Saturday 7th February 2026, to hopefully make the Semi-Final draw.
