The 500 Club was established at the start of the 2017/18 season as an additional means of fundraising to support our activities and development. It replaced the Silver Jubilee Draw, which had been going since Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977! and the Beechwood Club Draw – which were both fairly invisible to most Club members.
The intention in doing this was to heighten interest by increasing the draw’s first prize to £500, whilst introducing the draw to a wider population of club members. This restructure was successful as the number of participants initially reached around 160. Latterly though this number has reduced for a variety of reasons and now sits at 135 – which we are keen to grow again through renewed communication to, and awareness within, our membership.
The Draw is held quarterly (at the end of November, February, May and August) with the intention of distributing 50% of the income raised as prizes – from that first prize of £500 to a number of smaller prizes of £200; £100; and £50.
The first draw was made at the end of November 2017 and, in the 33 draws that have been held since then (including the most recent, November 2025 draw – the results of which are shown below), there have been:
- 33 different winners of the top prize of £500.
- More than 385 prizes given overall.
- In excess of £37,000 in total prize money distributed, and
- A similar amount raised for Club funds.
Entry for each draw is £15 per quarter – so £60 per annum, and broadly equivalent to just one pint of beer per month! – which is taken by Standing Order on the 15th of February, May, August and November. Details on how to sign up for the Draw can be found here (500 Club Draw | Lymm RFC).
I do hope you feel able to support your Club in this way, whilst always in the hope that your number might be drawn for the big prize! Let’s see if we can get the number of participants to more than 200!
