Lymm RFC Ukrainian Collection Day Update and 27th March Cancellation

Author: John Case

We held a fantastic collection day for Lymm on 20 March and were overwhelmed with the community’s generosity. These items have now been passed to the charity and are now on their way to Poland.  Thank you to everyone who donated. Special thanks goes to Primrose Hill Nursery for the loan of a large van! Thanks Adam Halford.

However since we embarked on this great cause it has become clear that the logistics of getting donated items to the centres in Poland where they are most needed is starting to overburden many of the charities involved. Most are simply inundated with items and have far more than they can cope with thanks to the generosity of all. Many such as the DEC and Red Cross have asked that collections of items are now put on hold in favour of donations of money that can then be spent at the places needed most quickly.

As a result, Lymm RFC have decided that there will NOT be a further collection on Sunday 27th March but will instead be arranging for some fund raising in the near future.

Please watch this space and help us when we launch something. We hope that many of our members and parents can then enjoy a more relaxed Mother’s Day on Sunday 27th March and look forward to sharing our fund-raising ideas.

Thankyou
