Latest recruit – Rob Hamnet, who has already been in action on the mowing machine. Still room for more recruits, contact JK, see below.

Trevor Fisher, formerly a Premiership referee and now a regular Premiership Television Match Official (TMO), marked our Pitches 3, 3a, 4 & 5 on Thursday. This Saturday 13th October, Lymm Eagles will be playing Old Bedians on P3, the Premiership TMO (and recently retired Sports Master at St Bede’s College), not wishing to jeopardise his school pension, carefully marked the pitch so be assured it is done correctly.

However, because Trevor was new to using our “state of the art marking machines”, Head Forker Jim Knowles (JK), decided that the marking of P2 for the 1stXV  v Kendal should be entrusted to Neil Kelly, the young apprentice member of the geriatric Grounds Team. All pitches are done in Lymm colours, green with white stripes, that extra bit of detail we aspire to.

This is excellent recruiting by JK and priority task selection on the day. A warning to those cornered in the club bar with ‘Young’ Mr Kelly (Ned) following the game on Saturday, you might be there for some time.

Ned will be talking tall about his rapid promotion to highly technical & skilled tasks with the grounds team, plus dramatically reducing the average age of the ‘Old Forkers’. Former St Bedes staff member, Mr Fisher, will have to remain with ‘L’ plates for the time being, continuing his training on P3 to 5.

Anybody wishing to join the ‘Old Forkers’ will be very welcome, please make contact with JK.

PS. If Neil and Trevor are around on Saturday, show your appreciation of their efforts and buy them a pint.

Thankyou
