Lymm 2nds 65 – 19 Burnage 2nds

2nd Team Match Report | Saturday April 15 2023

Lymms Young 2nd Team go marching on

Saturday saw Lymm play their 2nd round tie in the NOWIRUL Cup, having dispatched Fylde the previous week, a win for Lymm would see them go through to the Semi Final.

This would be the 3rd encounter with Burnage this season, the two previous league encounters resulting in heavy defeats for Burnage. So when the cup draw was made this looked like a good fixture for Lymm and so it proved.

Lymm were on the front foot from the start and soon had the scoreboard ticking over on a regular basis, by half time the damage was done and Lymm lead 43 -5.

Like last week against Fylde Lymm then took their foot of the gas at the start of the 2nd half  and allowed Burnage to make better progress and score the 1st try of the half.

However Lymm re-awoke and again piled on the pressure and eventually ran out convincing winners 65 – 19.

Lymm now face Sedgley Park away on Saturday 22nd April in the semi final. Sedgley was Lymms last league encounter of the season and was a tight game, with Sedgley coming out the winners, so revenge is on the cards.
