Lymm Junior Colts 48 – 10 Knutsford Junior Colts

Prior to the game, Lymm welcomed Lewis and Judy Hutchings, to launch the James Hutchings Charity, which is sponsoring the Lymm Colts Acadamey for the next 5 seasons. This is in memory of Lewis’ brother James, a former Club Captain and Club Patron.

The Lymm squad paid their respects to the Hutchings family before welcoming near neighbours Knutsford to Crouchley Lane, for a Halbro NW Jnr Colts League A fixture. A victory would keep Lymm top of the table and recent encounters had been close, but on this occasion Knutsford were only able to assemble 14 lads, with no front row.

Rather than enforcing the league ruling on uncontested scrums and the man off rule, and hence playing 15 against 14, Lymm opted to match Knutsford with 14 lads (leaving a bench of 4 to rotate).

Even so, Lymm raced into a 35 point lead, with only 20mins on the clock, with the ref then taking the opportunity to reduce the game to 30mins each way. Knutsford lost a lad to injury, and the so the game moved to 13 a-side. With an eye on tough league games to come, Lymm rotated the whole squad & played lads out of position which lead to a more even 2nd half, to the benefit of all 26 lads on the pitch. Eventually Lymm ran out 48 points to 10 winners.
