Lymm Colts Retain Their Dominance

This week, Lymm Senior Colts hosted Whitchurch Senior Colts, in what was expected to be an entertaining game.

1 hour before KO, one of the Lymm props announced he was still injured & may potentially be undergoing imminent surgery. That presented a challenge to Lymm’s front row, but the resilience & flexibility in the squad enabled Lymm to start with a depleted, but competent front row.

When Lymm overcame their initial slow start, they managed to secure their first try through a set piece move. Despite an injury replacement with one of Lymm’s Back Row players, Lymm quickly capitalised on their momentum & scored their next 2 tries. Whitchurch not to be completely outdone managed to score their first try just before the end of the 1st half.

HT Lymm 21 – 5 Whitchurch

Lymm’s dominance & control of the game continued into the 2nd half, despite their decline in discipline resulting in 3 yellow cards, taking them down to 12 men. Whitchurch taking every opportunity, continued challenging Lymm’s defence. Lymm knew they had to be better & eventually, improved & regained their composure enabling them to score 2 further tries. Lymm’s front row challenges continued when they lost another one of their props, forcing the game to go to uncontested scrums. The man off rule this week was not enforced, a contrast to last week’s game vs Manchester.

Whitchurch ever persistent, managed to secure their 2nd try of the game 5 mins before the end of the match, which was converted.

Despite harsh lessons on consequences of poor discipline, Lymm Colts are on a roll & progressing positively on their position in the league.
