Lymm enjoy the spoils at Stockport

Another strong Lymm 2XV travelled away to Stockport for the first game between the two teams for a number of years.

The game began with Lymm kicking off long and pressuring Stockport into a turnover for Joe Dowdswell. Straight away Lymm fell into shape and moved the ball wide for Ben Thompson to touch down, 7-0. Lymm then received a kick off and swiftly moved the ball across the back line to exit down the other side of the pitch. A good kick chase and some big tackles from Matt Connelly and Alex Stewart led to another turnover and a series of good passes led to Ryan Brown dotting down in the corner. Lymm continued to put their foot on the gas moving the ball well, offloading and playing in the right areas of the field led to a 33-5 lead with tries from Tom Baker, Mike Ince and Ryan Brown. At this point Stockport started to retain possession of the ball a little more and a purple patch for them led to 2 additional scores giving a half time score of 15-33.

After the half, Lymm really started to showcase their skill set and fitness through some brilliant running rugby. Tries came in quick succession with Rob Makin scoring 2, Nick Ashton, Joe Dowdswell and Sadge Kakaie all crossing the white wash. Throughout this Stockport still showed resilience through, scoring a handful of tries themselves having retained the ball well, despite pressure from the Lymm pack.

Overall, Lymm came out as 34-60 winners with a fantastic attacking display and some defensive work at training for the home game vs Blackburn next week.
