President’s Welcome

Dear Members, Guests, Sponsors and Friends of Lymm Rugby Club,

Welcome to Exeter University – This weekend we welcome Exeter University back to Beechwood for our 3rd encounter in the National 2 West League. Exeter University were promoted to National 2 in 2022 and competing at this level has provided their players with the opportunity to gain high-level rugby experience during their time at university. A great opportunity for the players themselves and a future benefit for the clubs across the UK that they are associated with outside of the university environment.
Once again I look forward to welcoming Will Katene, and all the travelling Exeter University members and supporters who attend the game on Saturday. I do hope that you all enjoy your time at Beechwood, and I also hope that we get a second opportunity to watch a rendition of the “Haka”, delivered by Will 😊

There is no doubt that Saturday will be a competitive and exciting game as it was last season, and I hope it is a game that honours the 100th appearance of our No 8, Rhys Lilly.

Match Day Sponsor – Thank you to “Succession Partners”  our match day sponsor this weekend. Succession Partners specialise in the recruitment of Finance and NED professionals across all sectors and disciplines in the Northwest. I look forward to welcoming their MD, Chris Paramore, and his guests to the pre match lunch on Saturday and I thank him for their continued support and sponsorship for our club.

As we approach Round 5 of the 2026/27 season, we are in 4th place in National 2 West with 17 points: 12 points from 3 wins plus 5 bonus points. What a fantastic start we have had to our season, let’s hope it continues !!

Barnstaple v Lymm– This was the first of our long distance away trips for this season and a 500-mile, 30-hour total trip duration was well worth it. Our 1st XV produced the type of defensive performance that we became accustomed to a couple of seasons ago, and which won them so many games that season. Having withstood a barnstorming start to the game by the host side, Lymm managed to get themselves into a decent lead and then defended under sustained pressure to come away with all five league points and a final score of Barnstaple 21-27 Lymm.

A full match report by Andy Leach can be read on the club website via the following link; Barnstaple 21 – 27 Lymm | Lymm RFC
