Lymm Under 16’s face tough encounter

Author: Will Hind

Lymm Under 16’s came up against a very strong Ormskirk U16 on Sunday 29 Jan. The match opened in the way the first half was to follow with huge effort and great discipline from each team. The defence by both teams was impressive as they battered away at each other, neither side willing to give an inch. Ormskirk were very well drilled and matched Lymm’s attack but both teams were relentless, although Lymm were getting the upper hand in scrums, winning at least one against the head.  The first half of the match saw the sides trading two tries each with one successful conversion in Lymm’s favour.

After the interval Lymm’s strength and depth showed and with the 50% rule meaning all fit players to get at least 50% game time the scrums had to become uncontested.  Ormskirk’s defence slipped a little and Lymm were able to gain a few unanswered tries.

The final score was 36-17.
