Lymm Rugby Club is delighted to welcome brothers Joe and Will Higgins to the squad for the 2020/21 Season. The talented youngsters have already been impressing with their athleticism and enthusiasm in small group training at the start of pre-season. Joe, a prop forward, has spent several seasons in the Sale Sharks academy and attended the famous rugby breeding ground that is Kirkham Grammar School. Brother Will, a hooker in rugby union, comes from a Rugby League background having played for Latchford Giants RL side most recently.

The Higgins family has a rich history with Lymm Rugby Club. Grandma and Grandad, Ken and Viv Higgins were both stalwarts of the club in the 70’s and 80’s. Ken was instrumental in the development of the club’s original 1st XV pitch when it was first laid, and Viv was club secretary.

DoR Adam Fletcher is excited to see what the two players will bring, saying “Both Joe and Will are talented, young players who bring a dynamic and mobile style that will fit perfectly with the brand of rugby we want to play. I’m excited to see them competing and think they could have a big impact. It’s also great that we are piecing together a squad of players who have a connection to Lymm and to the club itself. That will really help in developing the culture and buy in that we want to promote.”
